Endeavour House, Crawley

Vision Survey was appointed to survey Endeavour House, a striking headquarters office building arranged over three floors and located within the Manor Royal Business District in Crawley.

Overview

The company worked alongside Tangent Projects who requested the Building Information Modelling (BIM) in order to complete a full refurbishment and fit-out on the office building.

An accurate representation of the proposed building layout was also required by the owner for maintenance purposes as it could allow them to locate various ducts, pipelines, and other services in the future without having to remove structures within the building.

Methodology

Vision used 3D laser scanning techniques to capture the building’s characteristics with millions of points of data. This created an accurate model of the building both inside and out.

Using these scans, a computer-generated image could be created of what the interior and exterior would look like once the project was complete.

Details and Achievements

Digital modelling allowed the end client to receive realistic visualisations of the completed work in 2D, 3D, and Virtual Reality.

It not only enabled them to have a more accurate depiction of the final product but also allowed them to make any changes before the work stage has started. This meant that time and money was not wasted during the project.

Benefits

  • More efficient planning and design
  • Fewer re-works (planning and on-site)
  • Cost saving on materials
  • Support for prefabrication
