Silvertown Quays is a redevelopment scheme of 50 acres of former London docklands warehousing in the East London district of Silvertown. It is situated on the northside of the River Thames, the southside of the Royal Victoria Dock on the opposite quay to ExCeL exhibition centre, and immediately west of London City Airport.
The new tunnel is the first major road crossing across the River Thames since the QE2 Bridge at Dartford opened in October 1991, and the project will result in a six-fold increase in public transport provision across this area of the River Thames.
Vision Survey Ltd carried out a full PAS128 Utility Survey across both sides of the River Thames at Silvertown Quays, East London, in support of enabling works for the £1 billion Silvertown Tunnel project. The team surveyed over 350,000 m², scheduled around 1,800 inspection chambers, and collected 1.3 TB of geophysical data using EML and GPR techniques. AutoCAD drawings were produced to integrate the findings, and Permit to Dig documentation was issued to excavation teams to reduce service strike risks. Vision then used the collected data to manage service protection throughout the construction phase, ensuring safe and efficient progress on site.
